Musée des Arts Forains

03/22/2010

Musée des Arts Forains is one of those off-the-beaten-path things to do in Paris.  I had come across this in my planning online and it took three visits before I could gain access, but I guess third time is a charm.

This privately-owned funfair museum houses a fascinating collection of Venetian carnival rooms, rides and games.  Tours are offered to groups and are in French only.  Even though I do not speak French, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour which included riding some of the rides and playing some of the games.  Like this one:

These waiters with their trays of drink advanced to race across the stage when players rolled balls into the proper holes.  I actually won!

Thank you, too, for your lovely message. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can this week!

Looks like a place to visit! At Bercy I believe? Thanks for drawing the attention to it! Really nicely pictured!

Great photos! So it takes an Armchair Parisian to teach me things about my own city. :) I think I’ll go there with the French Fries on a rainy day…

Charming. I’ll have to scope this out on my next trip to Paris. I love the small museums the best.

It goes on the list for next time, definitely. Wherever did you find out about it?
