Saint Eustache
Even though this shot was taken in the fall, it has a spring in its step, non? It was taken while standing outside St. Eustache looking toward the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris building. I had to look that up because I had no idea what that domed building was.

I approached St. Eustache from Les Halles …

…and came upon the Place René Cassin where this magnificent sculpture by Henri de Miller sits. I had to be patient and wait for several people to take photos sitting on the fingers. It is quite massive.

I entered the hushed church to find I was alone. It was slightly eerie. The chandeliers weren’t lit…

…only these candles gave any indication that anyone had been recently present…

Oddly spooked, I didn’t linger.

Hi..you must read Emile Zole…The Belly of Paris…all about Les Halles and this church is mentioned on almost every page…fascinating history on those streets ….
Fascinating that you can make an autumn photo look like a spring photo! St. Eustache is a beautiful church with a lot of history. Surpirsed that you found yoursel alone. Very early morning?
Another Zola reference up there in comments! :) I think the universe is conspiring to have me read — I keep running into references of his works. :)
I actually got a little computer time this morning (wow — no fighting the kids for Facebook time!) and checked in here. I love Saint Eustache, but have never been inside. While it was a little spooky for you, I love the interior photos. Very nice. Thank you for those.
I think the sculpture of the head by Henri de Miller is one of my favorites. I remember the first time I saw it and how *unexpected* it was! I really like the juxtaposition of the older church with the modern sculpture.
Be well, Bj!
